GWO is a non-profit industry association founded and owned by its members who are drawn from globally leading renewable energy manufacturers, owners and operators. The members strive for an injury free work environment, setting common international standards for safety training and workforce development.
GWO training standards describe the requirements for training courses that are recommended be members of GWO. By complying with GWO standards and criteria, certified training providers are considered competent and proficient. Any training participant with a current training record in GWO’s WINDA database is considered competent and knowledgeable according to the learning objectives of that standard. GWO members accept the training record as confirmation the participant possesses the required knowledge and competences as described in the standard.

The aim of this module is to enable participants to prevent fires, make appropriate judgments when evaluating a fire, manage evacuation of personnel and ensure all are safely accounted for in the event of an unmanageable fire. If the incident is judged to be safe, the participants should be able to efficiently extinguish an initial fire by using basic handheld firefighting equipment.
