GWO Basic Safety Training – every week
The GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) course is designed to equip personnel working in the wind energy industry with the essential safety skills and knowledge required to work safely both onshore and offshore. This internationally recognised training is developed by the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) and is a mandatory requirement for technicians and professionals entering the wind sector.
The course covers five core modules: Working at Height, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness, First Aid, and Sea Survival. Each module focuses on hazard awareness, risk prevention, and practical emergency response skills to ensure participants can protect themselves and others in high-risk environments.
During the Working at Height module, learners gain hands-on experience using personal protective equipment (PPE), fall arrest systems, and rescue techniques. Manual Handling training teaches safe lifting and movement techniques to reduce the risk of injury. The Fire Awareness module covers fire prevention, fire behaviour, and the safe use of extinguishers.
The First Aid module provides essential life-saving skills, including CPR, use of AEDs, and management of serious injuries until professional help arrives. The Sea Survival module prepares participants for offshore work by teaching cold-water immersion techniques, use of life-saving equipment, and safe evacuation procedures.
Upon successful completion, participants receive a GWO-certified Basic Safety Training certificate, valid for two years, and recorded in the GWO WINDA database. This training is ideal for wind turbine technicians, engineers, contractors, and anyone seeking employment in the global wind energy industry.
